Indravadan Maneklal Shah aka “Dada” passed unexpectedly, but peacefully at the ripe age of 92 on April 29, 2021 at 9:25 PM.

Our beloved Dada was born on May 21,1929 in Gujarat, India, where he established himself as a community leader and was admired by all in the village of Bachar. He was married in 1947, to Madhukanta Shah, and together they raised 4 beautiful children, Pratima, Atul, Nilesh, and Rajesh. In 1981, he immigrated to the United States of America seeking the American dream for his family. With the assistance of his sister, he arrived in New Jersey and built a new life. He worked hard and opened his own bodega in New York City, paving the way for his children to also come to this country and create families of their own. Eventually he moved to Lowell, Massachusetts, where he was a cherished member of his community and temple.

Dada was a man of many hidden talents, but his true passion was the work of a clocksmith. He was well known for his mastery of watches and clocks, and could fix anything from a grandfather clock to designer watches. He was also a creative soul, talented artist, generous with his time, and loved to entertain. He was musically gifted, without any professional training and could play the piano, harmonium, and tabla by ear. Dada was a devout Hindu and and a self-proclaimed shaman, always ready with Ayurvedic remedies to each and every ailment. People flocked to him for his repair expertise, Ayurvedic remedies, and his overall magnetic personality. Dada prided himself on being self sufficient and independent, but never missed an opportunity to spoil his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Indravadan is survived by his wife, Madhukanta Shah, four children, Pratima Kotia, Atul Shah, Nilesh Shah and Rajesh Shah, nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Our beloved Dada will be dearly missed, and his life will forever be cherished and celebrated. We will never forget the sacrifices he has made for our family, and we owe him a lifetime of gratitude for the beautiful and blessed lives we have today. Dada was a man of many principles, full of conviction and life, who not only uplifted his family, but the entire community around him. Indravadan was the founder of the “Shahtuation” and we will honor and carry forth his legacy forever and always. May his atma transcend and find eternal peace. Jai Shri Krishna.
