Kenneth Thorne was born on Sunday, April 19, 1953 to the late Zebedee Thorne Sr. and the late Dorothy (Brown) Thorne in Newark, New Jersey. Kenneth received his education in the Newark and Passaic School Systems and graduated Passaic High School in 1971. He had additional schooling at the Capri School of Hair in Clifton, New Jersey.
At an early age Kenneth professed his love for God and was baptized at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. In the 70’s Kenny joined the Calvary Baptist Church in Garfield, New Jersey under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Calvin McKinney where he sang in the choir and was a van
Later Ken joined the Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Ronald W. Johnson.
Kenneth was affectionately known as; Kenny, KEN KEN, Big Daddy, and the best of them all “Fat Father”.
Kenny was employed by Mr. Tuckers Cleaners, The Men’s Shop-Newark, Chestnut Hill Nursing Home, Personal Driver for Dr. Margoles in Fairlawn, Passaic Boys and Girls Club (Hudson St./Speer Village), Clint’s Barbara Shop, North Jersey Developmental Training and Wayne Detention Center.
Ken loved having fun, traveling to visit family, cooking, doing hair and definitely gambling to name a few of his hobbies. He was especially known for his card parties and running down to Atlantic City.
Kenneth was united in Holy Matrimony to Cynthia B. Merritt on June 29, 1985 and to this union two sons were born, Lil Kenny and Jayson.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father Zebedee Thorne Sr., (December 19, 2010), his mother Dorothy Thorne, (August 27, 2020), brother Robert Allen Thorne, (December 18, 1995), sister-n-law Donna Black Thorne, (February, 3, 2013).
Kenneth leaves to cherish everlasting loving memories; his two sons; Kenneth William Thorne, Orlando, FL, Jayson Cyntrell Thorne, Houston, TX,
