Obituary for Ruth Coney (Munk)

Coney was born on Sept. 2, 1928 to Arthur Munk and Carrie
Howard Munk in Turner County, Rebecca, GA. She attended the
elementary schools of that county.
After a brief illness, Mother Coney departed this life on Wednesday,
October 14, 2020.
At a young age, she met and married her love, Ezekiel Coney,
And they were married for over 45 years.
Ruth worked in the health care field; she continued working even in
her late seventies before she finally retired. She loved cooking and
being a gracious host for family and friends. She would give you her
talk and opinion softly while it would make its impact. Ruth was an
active member in the community and was always willing to help others
in their time of need. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist
Church, where she was a dedicated and committed member; she was
a member of the Deaconess and Missionary boards, also she sang on
the Senior Choir. She loved her bible studies and was a constant
member of Sunday School. Her faith and love of God was
unshakeable. She believed in keeping an orderly home and loved
dressing like a lady.
Also, to her credit, she was a social activist, working for the rights of
the less fortunate in society. She served as a member of NAACP,
Passaic Chapter, the Order of the Eastern Star and United Passaic
Org., while always helping with that still, quiet attitude and warm
smile. For all those that knew her well, knows what a powerful,
encouraging legacy she has left behind for us to model.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband,
Ezekiel Coney, her sisters; Emma Branch, Carrie Lue Henderson,
Mary Lee Stanley, Leola Sanders, Louise Munk, Susie Boseman, her
brothers, Walter Benjamin Munk, Sr., Eddie Lee Munk, Charles Munk
and Arthur Munk.
Ruth’s memories will forever be cherished by her siblings; Helen
Munk Berry (Furman),of Passaic, NJ, Burdell Mullen (Calvin) of
Pontiac, MI; God daughter, Sherria Munk, adopted god daughters are
Rachel Hill, Kim Weeks Johnson and Roxanne Lotts, a special niece
that was like her own daughter, Brenda Berry McKenzie. Also, she
leaves to grieve a host of other family members and many many
